To The Women of Game of Thrones

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched Game of Thrones till Season 6.

Cersei deserves a quiet applause,

Loving her children was her cause;

Power now is her only friend,

That every foe plans to upend.

Firm she sits atop the Iron Throne,

Oblivious of the real King

In Snow who was grown;

Ignorant of the other Mother,

with real wings,

That have thus far usurped a hundred kings.

Margerey the Queen, first of her name,

Liked to glow and tell sweet lies,

Hard way she learnt the rules of the Game,

Where one who doesn’t win surely dies.

Yara, a fair fighter saving her brother’s breath,

Only wants the Lands that she sees fit;

So did a woman who battled her love to death,

And went by the memorable name Ygritte.

Brienne of Tarth, another name to reckon;

Neither a fair maiden,

nor a damsel who’s taken,

Brienne is a girl lost to the woman she has to be,

Now serves servitude, with honor as her only fee.

Daenerys is a badass, Arya is, we saw, too,

Sansa just outshone men in War,

Little Lady Mormont can shush two;

Dear women playing this Great Game,

Kings will Clash around you,

Swords shall Storm,

Crows will Feast on the dead for all but name,

And Dragons will Dance in Winter Winds strong;

Save not the lot who butcher,

Shake not the hand that strikes,

Protect good men from other men

And show them their heads on spikes.

Sing the Songs Of Ice and Songs of Fire,

For men who only know lust, know desire;

Show them that they can conquer, but you can rule

Hearts with compassion and Lands with your ire.
